By-Laws

    Attendance:

    • All Meetings are mandatory for all members.
    • Two excused absences are allowed per semester.

      Excused Absences Include: Doctors Appointments, sports games (not practices), family emergencies (with note from parent/guardian).

      Please Notify an officer prior to the day of the meeting if you are unable to attend.

    • More than two unexcused absences per year will result in the probation from the honor society. While on probation, if another unexcused absence occurs, you will be removed from the honor society.

    Meetings:

    • Meetings will usually take place on Thursdays after school starting at 2:15. Most will end by 3:00.
    • Meeting length will vary depending on what needs to be covered during the meeting. If meeting will be unusually long or short, officers will do their best to notify members via email prior to the meeting.
    • Meetings dates will be posted in music rooms and emailed to members.

    Service:

    • All Tri-M Members will be required to perform a certain amount of music related service projects.
    • Each project will be rewarded a certain point value depending on time and effort going into the project.
    • Students must acquire 35 points by the induction ceremony or will not be eligible for induction.

      Of the 35 points, students must acquire at least 15 points by the end of the first semester. If they do not have 15 points, they will be placed on probation. If the student does not have 15 points by the end of the third quarter, they will be asked to leave the honor society.

    Other Requirements

    • Members must maintain and A average in all music classes and a 3.0 GPA overall.

      Report cards will be reviewed quarterly to check for requirements.

      If the student lacks the required grades, they will be placed on probation. If the grades do not improve after one marking period and/or by the induction ceremony, they will be asked to leave the honor society.

    • If you fail to meet and of the requirements, you may request a meeting with the officers and/or the advisor to discuss a plan to prevent your removal from the organization
