PTC has been around for a long time, but its most recent incarnation began in the fall of 2005, when Mr. Paul E. Doniger was hired to take on the role of Director of Drama at Pomperaug High School. Since his arrival, there have been two major productions a year: A fall production in our small Black Box Theatre (room #113) and a mainstage production in the auditorium (every other year, this production is a musical). To date, our productions have been:

  1. Leonard Wibberly's The Mouse that Roared adapted by Christopher Sergel (Black Box Theatre fall 2005)

  2. Kaufman & Hart's The Man Who Came to Dinner (Auditorium — spring 2006)

  3. William Shakespeare's The Tempest (Black Box Theatre fall 2006)

  4. Cole Porter's Anything Goes (Auditorium — spring 2007)

  5. Paul E. Doniger's Masks (Black Box Theatre fall 2007) — NOTE: Mr. Doniger wrote this play specifically to be performed by his students at PHS.

  6. Special production of PHS student Sara Doble's one act play, Acid in Wonderland (Black Box Theatre winter 2007-08)

  7. Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice two act version by Jon Jory (Auditorium — spring 2008)

  8. Karen Sunde's Kabuki Lady Macbeth (Black Box Theatre fall 2008)

  9. Rogers' & Hammerstein's South Pacific (Auditorium Spring 2009)

  10. "4X4" - An evening of four one-act plays by four American playwrights: Tad Mosel’s Impromptu, Christopher Durang’s The Actor’s Nightmare, Wendy Wasserstein’s Boy Meets Girl, and Romulus Linney’s Goodbye, Howard. (Black Box Theatre fall 2009).

  11. Moss Hart's & George S. Kaufman's Once In a Lifetime (Auditorium Spring 2010).

CALL FOR HELP:

Parents and other adults, you are needed!

Because our learning goals in the theatre program include working as part of a team in a real-world, theatrical experience, we need mentors and professionals with expertise. That means we want guidance from adults with skills like carpentry, sewing, management, publishing, printing, painting, design and execution of projects, and many others that come up during the production, performance, and post-production aspects of our plays. If you're an adult with the time, skill, or interest in working with us (typically from 2:15 through 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon), please contact Mr. Doniger (pdoniger@region15.org) or call the Black Box Theatre (203-262-3247).
