The Black Box Theatre
at Pomperaug High School is located next to the auditorium in room #113. This
small, rectangular space (ca. 50' X 33') is a flexible theatre that can be
adapted to the design concept for the play being produced inany given season.
It is the home not only of PTC's fall productions but also Mr. Doniger's theatre
classes. The walls, floor, curtains, and ceiling are all black in color in
order to maintain the integrity of proper theatrical lighting. Like most black
box theatres, this space is ideal for plays that lend themselves to experiments
in design. In previous years, the PTC Black Box Theatre has staged productions
of plays ranging from Shakespeare's late comedy, The Tempest, to
the world premiere of Mr. Doniger's own Commedia dell'Arte play, Masks.
CALL FOR HELP:
Parents and
other adults, you are needed!
Because
our learning goals in the theatre program include working as part of a team
in a real-world, jobsite type of experience, we need mentors and professionals
with skills. That means we want guidance from adults with skills like carpentry,
sewing, management, publishing, printing, painting, design and execution of
projects, and many others that may come up during the production, performance,
and post-production aspects of our plays. If you're an adult with the time,
skills, and interest to work with us (typically from 2:15 through 4:00 or
5:00 in the afternoon), please contact Mr. Doniger (pdoniger@region15.org)
or call the Black Box Theatre (203-262-3247).
