Pomperaug Theater Company is the production arm for the Pomperaug High School educational theatre program. Its purpose is to afford opportunities for the students in grades 9-12 of Connecticut Regional School District #15 to engage in a real-world work experience in theatre. Our productions are designed to imitate the work of theatre professionals under the guidance of the Artistic Director, Mr. Paul E. Doniger.

Each year, PTC produces a minimum of two productions: The first in our smaller Black Box Theatre is given in Mid-November, and our second, larger production is given in the spring (usually in early May) on our main stage. The spring production in even years is a straight play, while in odd years, it is a musical.

The fall 2009 evening of one act plays breaks PHS records:

Our evening of four American plays (dubbed, "Four by Four") played to sold out houses in the black box last November for five of its six performances. This spring, we brought one of these plays, Christopher Durang's The Actor's Nighmare, to the annual CDA Festival (held in Greenwich this year).

This production was given six performances fromNovember 6th to 15th, 2009, in the Black Box Theatre. The four shows were: Tad Mosel’s Impromptu, Christopher Durang’s The Actor’s Nightmare, Wendy Wasserstein’s Boy Meets Girl, and Romulus Linney’s Goodbye, Howard.

The big event for the spring of 2010 was Kaufman and Hart's riotous satire of early Hollywood, Once in A Lifetime, performed with energy and style by a cast of (what seemed like) thousands!

THE FALL 2008 PRODUCTION OF KAREN SUNDE'S KABUKI LADY MACBETH RESOUNDS WITH SUCCESS:

The second performance of the play on Saturday, November 15, 2008 was energized by the attendance of the publisher and the playwright in the audience. Students from the cast and crew met with playwright Karen Sunde for a brief but meaningful chat after their fine performance. For photos of the event, click here.
