Pomperaug Theater Company is the
production arm for the Pomperaug High School educational theatre program. Its
purpose is to afford opportunities for the students in grades 9-12 of Connecticut
Regional School District #15 to engage
in a real-world work experience in theatre. Our productions are designed to
imitate the work of theatre professionals under the guidance of the Artistic
Director, Mr. Paul E. Doniger.
OUR
MISSION :
PTC is designed to accomplish
a few goals. Most of these goals correspond to both the State
of Connecticut Framework and the NAEP
Framework for Theatre Arts Education. One goal not clearly stated in these
standards is the creation of exciting theatre. Our students work to learn and
use the skills of theatre professionals both on and back stage. In the theatre
program, students develop more universal skills, such as problem solving, creative
thinking, and critical thinking. Students also develop a solid work ethic and
understand the need to meet deadlines through their work in the Pomperaug Theatre
Company.
CALL FOR HELP:
Parents and
other adults, you are needed!
Because
our learning goals in the theatre program include working as part of a team
in a real-world, theatrical experience, we need mentors and professionals with
expertise. That means we want guidance from adults with skills like carpentry,
sewing, management, publishing, printing, painting, design and execution of
projects, and many others that come up during the production, performance, and
post-production aspects of our plays. If you're an adult with the time, skill,
or interest in working with us (typically from 2:15 through 4:00 or 5:00 in
the afternoon), please contact Mr. Doniger (pdoniger@region15.org)
or call the Black Box Theatre (203-262-3247).
