AGENDA

Dates --August 18th, 19th, 20th 2008
Times -- 8:00 am to 2:00 pm (Includes 2 breaks of 10 minutes each and a 40 minute lunch)
Location -- PHS Computer Lab 111C attached to the library
Instructor -- Michael Murphy, Charlie Vlahos, John Moris, Jeff Kinnard
Audience -- Teachers of Region 15. The Gradebook portion of the workshop will be geared more towards teachers who calculate numerical averages in order to assign letter grades to students. Therefore, it may be said the the focus will be more on scenarios encountered at the middle and high school level.
CEU -- 1.5 CEU in technolgoy. Also, for teachers who qualify, one credit towards advancement on the pay scale is avaliable.

Description of Course -- As Region 15 enters its second year of Powerschool implementation, plans are to have teachers fully utilize the online component for attendance, student information, reporting, keeping their grade book, and communication with students and parents using the web access portal associated with the system. This course walks teachers through the steps of using the web-based teacher component of Powerschool to help manage their online space.

Course Objectives --

  1. Please see the18-step Powerschool Training Agenda that will be followed during the course. Participants will master all 18 sections of the training and have a completed notebook with checklist.
  2. Teachers will also have their own grade books set up for the year in terms of rationale and term weighting.
  3. Teachers will also access the student / parent portal to experience sample data from the student / parent point of view.
  4. Instruction / practice will be adjusted to use Powerteacher version 1.1 (many new improvements for 2008)
