Some questions to consider--

1) Contrast the conditions facing workers of the Industrial Revolution with living and working conditions today. Do any of these conditions currently exist in the developing world? Why/why not?

2) Contrast the ideas of a 19th century manufacturer with those of Karl Marx. How did the economic realities of the era help to create these views?

3) Describe Romanticism and explain how it was a reaction to the Industrial Revolution. Find three paintings that serve as examples of Romantic art, and explain how they fit the category.

4) What are five environmental problems that have resulted from the Industrial Revolution? Were they an inevitable outcome of industrialization? Is it likely that these problems will exist in the future?

5) What are five inventions described in this site that you've used today?

6) The invention of one technology often sparks the invention of another. Examine the technological developments listed on this site. Can you find examples of this?
